THE STORY BEHIND: the Racing Stripe

Directly from the '70 the most iconic design overall

Our iconic Racing Stripe is based on the highly stylish race suit worn by popular drivers from the ‘60’s and ‘70’s.
The dress code at that time was primarily directed towards comfort and elegance. The suit’s style featuring a design with vertical stripes - in navy blue, yellow or red on a creamy base colour - was the quintessential look, a favourite among classic and historic race car drivers. The sleek red stripe on an off-white base subtly recalled the track while creating a highly distinct and emblematic look. It seems actually that the stripe firstly appeared in 1965 specifically on Jim Clark's suit.

Our Racing Stripe collection pays homage to this classical element, becoming today one of our most distinctive pieces. Throughout the collection the Racing Stripe appears in various fabrics and colours, jersey fabric on polos and sweatshirt, washed on the distressed denim shirt.
